FAQs - Frequently Asked Questions
What is roasted mate tea?
After drying and storage, the mate leaves are gently roasted – not smoked. This creates a soft, nutty, roasted aroma with a full body.
What is the difference between roasted and smoked?
Roasted means: The mate leaves are gently heated in drums – no open flame, no smoke. The result is a soft, nutty aroma.
Smoked mate, on the other hand, is dried over an open fire. This creates a smoky, sometimes bitter note.
Our mate is roasted, not smoked – mild in taste, without a smoky note.
Does roasted mate go well with milk?
Yes, absolutely perfect. The nutty roasted aromas harmonize really well with milk, oat milk or other plant-based drinks.
Our tip: Pour over at 85°C, let it steep briefly, then add a splash of oat milk – it will become nice and creamy.

Aroma & Character
composition
Gently roasted mate leaves, pure.
Aroma & Character
A mate with a difference. Mild, nutty, and full-bodied in flavor – with subtle caramel and hazelnut notes and a pleasantly smooth finish. The roasting process brings out a unique aroma that reminds many of a blend of coffee and black tea.
Caffeine content
Gently invigorating with approximately 1.0-1.4% caffeine. The energy is released evenly and continuously – without a caffeine spike.
Here's how to prepare it
In the French Press
The ideal method for roasted mate tea. Use 3-4 tablespoons per liter, pour over 80-90°C hot water, and let it steep for 2-3 minutes. For a creamier taste: add a splash of oat milk. The video shows you how easy it is – the principle is the same for green and roasted mate.
Classic tea in a tea strainer
It's just as easy – put the mate in the sieve, pour on hot water, let it steep, and enjoy.
gently roasted
Fresh and green on the left, gently roasted on the right – the same plant, completely different character.
Our roasted mate tea is first air-dried, then refined using controlled heat – this creates the distinctive roasted aroma without any contact with smoke. The result: delicate caramel and nutty notes reminiscent of coffee and black tea.
caámate quality
Our mate plants are organically certified, pollutant-free, and grown naturally in mixed cultures, sheltered by other trees. Harvested only every two years, the leaves develop their valuable nutrients and retain their pure, unadulterated flavor through gentle air drying.
